Hey guys. Im sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I've just been busy with school and everything. I will try almost everyday to be on here. Well First some updates. I have completed my first semester in college! woo. can I get an amen lol. Campus Crusade is still going strong for me and I enjoy every min. of it. We have started up a seperate Bible Study in Phillips-Hawkins and its just a small fellowship. Pray that we will be used of God to do His will. We miss the signs all the time, but isn't it good to know that we have a God that gives us a second chance?
On to the main point of this blog: Im ready a book that was given to me by a friend. Its called He Chose the Nails by Max Lucado. It talks about some of the meanings and what God did to gain our hearts. I just read the chapter on the sign. This was when Jesus was about to be crucified. Pilate had a sign placed on the top of the cross written in roman, hebrew, and greek stating that Jesus was the king of the jews. Indeed He was and still is. Why was this sign important you say? In the book Lucado focuses on two seperate truths. The first is "there is no person He wont use". The sign above God's head bears fruit and people saw that. How do you think the theif felt when he realized who this was. I like the saying of the theif "remember me when YOU go into YOUR kingdom". This sign above Jesus's head was in fact the first piece of spreading the Gospel. It wasnt the intention of the Roman soldiers and Pilate to write those words in three different languages so that they could see and read in their own language. Just imagine if we didnt have the sign of the cross, then we wouldnt know if it was true. The cool thing out of this story was that God was in control the whole time. He used Pilate to spread the Gospel of His kingdom, by proclaiming His son or Himself as King of the Jews.
The Second fact is "there is no language that God will not speak". God works His ways out. Like an example with my life. I struggled with addiction to adult stuff and I knew it was wrong. I wanted to be free, so I cried out to God and I felt it was over but it wasnt. I went back to it. One night I felt a pull on the chains and God was there with me. I couldnt see Him but I knew He was there. He spoke to me there. There are times when we really want to hear from God and we dont get a response from Him right then and there. It takes its time. Like I knew it would take some time for me to get away from it. The point of it all is that Christ is there and He knows your language and knows you best so I challenge you to let Him do that.
Gotta run
Matt
